Be schooled on American foreign policy by Aragorn
This is an eye opening little video. It’s from an extract of A People’s History of The American Empire (Graphic Novel) by Howard Zinn. Zinn is is a former WW2 veteran and now a historian, playwright, and social activist and author of the seminal work “A People’s History of the United States”. The book was released in 1980 and has sold over 1 million copies, and has had a heavy influence on contempory history as well as garnering mentions in Good Will Hunting and The Simpsons (thanks Wikipedia)
With A People’s History of The American Empire Zinn presents a very educational, if a little biased, essay on American foreign policy – and interestingly in the form of a comic book.
It’s narrated by Viggo Mortenson (if that tickles your fancy), he’s a bit dry in his delivery – but perhaps that’s intended. The video sold me though – I’ve ordered my copy already.
Regardless of what your political beliefs are – We believe that using comics, or graphic novels as a medium to deliver non-fiction is awesome and DEGOURGET applauds it. The power of art and words together can make for a compelling arguement, and can make things accessible to those normally not open to ‘heavy’ topics.
Let’s see more things like this!
