Capsule’s of Warhol

Degourget triva for the day…
Andy warhol, who would have turned 80 yesterday, had a fascination for filing. Not papers, not bills but odds and ends of things that were given, collected and found.
Anything that equated to a representation of his life he simply wanted to put it in a brown box. Once full he would tape it up and pop it into storage. Andy began to hoard his possessions with a colour patch on the side of the box for the month of the year and viewed this as art in itself of – a self portrait in a sense and he called them his time capsules.
By the time of his death in 1987, he had filled over 600 boxes. The majority still remained unopened and are all housed at the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburugh. Some of the more special discoveries amongst the paraphanalia was a mummified human foot, pizza and a slice of birthday cake. Yum.
Check out the article by the Daily Telegraph (UK), which is a year old but nevertheless quite relevant.
