Cede further control of your life to faceless machines

I’ve been on a bit of web tools frenzy as of late, I don’t know why but people keep sending me online tools designed to organise your life. It could have something to do with my shambolic excuse for a memory or the fact I pretty much live my life completely online, though given how topsy turvy these times we live in are, it could be for any number of reasons.

Anyhoo, TripIt, beside having the obligatory lack of spacing in its name and cool Beta tag to let you know that you’re in the know, looks like a handy little addition for those who travel often. Self described personal travel assistant, it supposedly organises all your travel info and creates a full itenerary for you.

TripItIt continues the disturbing trend of having you email private information to a generic email address (see our piece on HitMeLater) in return for a tidying up of your affairs. Send your various travel confirmations down the internet tubes to plan@tripit.com and the magic pixies will collate everything for you and create not just any old itenerary, but a MasterItenerary (lack of spacing my idea, but i’ll give it to the good folk at TripIt for for free as a goodwill gesture) complete with all your various plans, weather, restaurants and the always tantalising unsepecific more.

As with anything in the whole new interweb world, you can share your itenerary with friends and compare travel plans yadda yadda yadda. I’m guessing the key recommendations given to you for each location will be stumping up for the pleasure or the plan is to sell the whole thing to Google as an add on to the GoogleLife application they’ve been surreptitiously building over the last few years…
