SMX – well it’s like parkour – with a MOTORCYCLE

So we’ve shown you some cool fixed gear bicycle vids on DEGOURGET, it’s time to take it a notch up. We’d love to see Street Motorcycle Trials (SMX) take off. It’s the street version of motorcycle trials.

Motorcycle trials is somewhat extreme sport – its described as a skill based non-speed event on specialised motorcycles. Think of it like BMX or Skateboard tricks, except on a motorbike. Hey, apparently its pretty big in Europe.

The urban or street variety of this sport is relatively new, its also quite illegal in most major cities, and most definitely not street legal in Australia. This makes it all the more appealing – think of it like parkour but with a freaking motorcycle.

Trial motorcycles are distinctive in that they are extremely lightweight, and have short suspension relative to a motocross or enduro motorcycle and the most obvious part is they do not have a seat (as they are designed to be ridden standing up).

It’s hard not to be impressed by the video. This video features Julien Dupont doing what he does – incredibly dangerous motorcycle stunts with tons of style. The man is often credited as the inventor of the sport, we’re pretty sure he’s not the first to do stupid shit with a trials bike in the city. But he is the first to get famous with his videos.
