Holden Outerwear
Holden is an outerwear company that prides itself on its eco-minded outlook. Par for the course these days, true, and with outdoors types it tends to ring warning bells that scream “Hippy” and “Crap Designs”. Thankfully Holden buck this trend and blow away my stereotypical views by combining great design with an environmental conscience.
Holden created an innovative waterproof hemp-fiber fabric for snowwear two years ago and have integrated other environmentally sustainable measures into their work such as the use of Cocona, a coconut shell based fabric. They even take care with their packaging, using acetate ethylene bags, which their site assures me take a mere 6 years to decompose.
They’ve got a great range of fabrics and prints to choose from and some pretty nice looking jacket and pant designs. To top it all off they have an unbelievably well put together site with rich visuals and multiple soundtracks and some clever use of sound integrated into the navigation. Even if you don’t need some new snow gear, it’s still a site well worth a visit.
