phonofone II – is a serious dock

Okay so I’m posting another apple iphone/ipod accessory. Well not apple specific exactly, this can be used for any portable audio player – so it will play happy with your Zune’s, iRivers’s or Sony Ericssons.

The Phonofone II is one seriously premium acoustic amplifier. Same concept as the previously mentioned Griffin Aircurve, but way way sexier.

Through passive amplification alone, this unique piece instantly transforms any personal music player w/ earbuds into a sculptural audio console. without the use of external power or batteries, the phonofone inventively exploits the virtues of horn acoustics to boost the audio output of standard earphones to up to 55 decibels (or roughly the maximum volume of laptop speakers) upon connecting active earphones to the phonofone their trebly buzzing is instantly and profoundly transformed into a warm, rich and resonant sound.

Apparently is 100% ceramic and does not use any power. It’s been limited to 200 units, so if you want oneĀ  – you better act quick. It costs USD$600 and you better hope they have a good courier to transport it. I’d imagine it ain’t so durable. And if black isn’t your thing, you can get the previously released white one. The black is sexier though. Black is always sexier when its glossy.

You can buy it at Charles & Marie
