Underground Chinese Rock

Much in the same vein as VBS.TV’s film Heavy Metal in Baghdad, here is part 1 a fascinating documentary about the underground rock scene in China. Titled Rock Under the Red Flag its paints a really colour of China from the shinyness they were bombarding us with during the Olympics.

The vice boys followed Broolkyn based post hardcore band Birthday Boyz on a tour of China, in which they meet a a whole bunch of local underground rock kids. Oh and apparantly this was all illegal due to some restrictions of foreign bands playing in China. How exciting!

Anyway its pretty interesting, and these Birthday Boyz, despite the horrid name, are actually pretty good.
