“The Places We Live” – Online Exhibition

The Places We Live features panoramic photos of slums by Jonas Bendiksen, and narrated by the people who live there (albeit through translators). It’s very moving, educational and thought provoking And most of all, it is brilliantly executed. Like, it’s really really well done.

It’s good to know that people actually use, often misguided, web design skills to make things that are artistic, culturally significant and powerful.

To access the stories in the restricting Flash interface, skip the intro, click on a city, and then on one of the households in the upper left corner. There was apparently an exhibition and a book too.
