Top Ten Fashionably Smart Camera Straps
It’s not just professional camera users that need a good camera strap, budding prosumers, vintage camera collectors, artist photographers and even the recently trendy toy camera hobbysists all need a good strap. Generally good quality straps meant black nylon and giant white logos. Thanks to the internet, there is a great little cottage industry of unique, custom and handmade camera straps now.
We’ve put together a list of our favourite ones, we’ve made these choices based on style, price and quality.
Started by two photographers who were attending the Brooks Institute of Photography, they’ve built up a great collection of cool camera straps. They also do custom straps to your own unique specifications.

The Sharkstooth – $29.95

Royal Argyle Blue $29.95
Based in Chicago, these guys make camera straps out of reclaimed (recycled) seat belts. They are a nice wide 2″ size and come in 7 nice colours. Strong enough to hold and SLR with a big lens. They start at $20.

An Etsy store that sells just great one item, a classy vintage style camera strap. It features is the quick release swivel snap that leaves only a small ring attached to the camera. We love the Gucci esque colourway and as pictured, looks fantastic with a vintage camera. $30

The Dreamer Strap from LA Bonbons
This strap comes all the way from Korea, but it’s sold online at LA Bonbons. We especially liked the little leather pouch attached to the strap, to keep extra film or batteries. Again, this one looks great on a vintage or toy camera. $33.30

Another Etsy store, but this one sells a big range of different straps. All of them are colourful patterns and prints, mostly on the cuter and feminine side – but there are some nice neutral patterns and some vintage fabric inspired pieces ones too. Lots to choose, from $25.99

Welcome to the high end of the market. These are the most expensive ones we’ve features but we think they are well worth every penny. These guy make the most beautiful and highest quality straps we’ve seen. Everything is made out of high quality materials – genuine leather and industial grade vinyl. They started last year, and you can read all about how it went down on their blog. Prices start from about $70, they also have some limited edition models – plus a full custom service.
