Blacktrail, worlds best electric bicycle...

Electric bicycles are supposed to be the transportation saviour of mankind living in urban areas. However most attempts at these products, have been aesthetic nightmares – they just look rubbish, especially the for desiring something with automatic door operators. While looking for e-bikes the other day, we came across something that looked better than anything we could have imagined.  Introducing the PG-Bikes BT-01 Blacktrail. When the German based PG-Bikes sets out to build an electric bike, they don’t mess around. Although this technically is an electric bicycle, in some regions it may have to registered it as a motorcycle. Constructed of lightweight carbon fiber, aerospace aluminum, titanium and magnesium, the BlackTrail BT-01 travels up to 100km/h with a...

Guitar Hero x Bicycle = Bike Hero?

This is awesome. We love Guitar Hero, and we love bicycles. Someone combined the two and it resulted in awesomeness. Looking at the effort they went to setting this up though – I’m suspicious that it’s a viral ad for the game launch itself? Still – doesn’t stop it from being...

Vintage Bicycle / Motorcycle Beauty

You see, I love all things two wheeled. I love bicyles and I love motorcycles. And you’d think, a small engined bicycle would be perfect as a low/no emission transport for the modern urban person. Unfortunately such mopeds are decidedly ugly. Enter Ridley Motorcycles and their Vintage Bike range. They’ve made a series of beautiful 1930’s vintage motorcycle inspired cruiser bicycles – that sport a 50cc or 70cc engine. They come in 24″ and 26″ varieties and are fully specced out with Shimano Nexus Coaster Brake Hub and solid steel frames. These are real beauties. They start at USD$1999, so looking at the exchange rate – I’m not getting one anytime soon. But god I want one. Some...

Fixed Gear x iPhone

So fixies are so in right now, and iPhones go without saying. So combine the two and that would make this little iphone app is possibly the hippest, trendiest, coolest thing you can possibly have right now. Whack this on your ipod and you can: Evaluate current or potential Gearing Ratios, calculate Gain Ratios, Gear Inches, and Development. Use the Skid Patch Analyzer to visualize and minimize your fixed-gear’s tire wear. Explore equivalent gearing configurations that let you reuse parts you already have. This is definitely essential if you have an iphone and a fixie, and if you want to be the envy of all your hipster friends. Grab it at the itunes app store or check out...

Macaframa: More fixed gear bike madness from SF...

In the same vein as MASH SF comes another film about a fixie (fixed gear bicycle) crew from SF, called Macaframa. The footage is pretty impressive, and from the trailer it looks to have quite a different feel from the hardcore/intenseness of the MASH SF film. Looks like more of a tribute to the joy of riding. But don’t let the fun and peaceful looking footage fool you, this shit is dangerous. If you like what you see, they have many more video clips on their site. via today and...
